About

Consensus Planning, an Albuquerque Planning and Landscape Architecture firm, has been engaged by the Town of Red River to update the 2013 Red River Comprehensive Plan, which was also authored by Consensus Planning.

The Comprehensive Plan is a long range, general policy guide that provides a written and graphic description of existing conditions, community vision, and a “road map” for the future. The Comprehensive Plan ensures the community vision is achieved through sound decision-making regarding future growth and development. It is adopted by the Governing Bode as a Resolution.

The Comprehensive Plan is organized by plan elements, each containing a description of existing conditions and background information, followed by goals that describe where the community sees itself in the future; objectives describing what the goal is trying to achieve; and implementation strategies that describes the action the community needs to take to achieve the goal. The Comprehensive Plan elements will include a description of existing conditions, data analysis, identification of issues, and goals/objectives/strategies that are based on our public engagement process, research and analysis, and our professional planning expertise.

The Comprehensive Plan elements are anticipated to include:

  • Executive Summary
  • Community Profile
  • Land Use
  • Housing
  • Community Services
  • Economic Development, with a LEDA Component
  • Transportation
  • Infrastructure
  • Water
  • Hazard Mitigation
